Hello friends and neighbours,
Last night I sent out my letter but wanted to put special emphasis on two news articles that have a big impact on HRM. If you have trouble accessing the articles, let me know.
First is the work that Nicholas Beckett is accomplishing in establishing a funding program to aid those unable to pay their rent. The approach is one I totally advocate for and support. Such programs exist in other cities in Canada like Vancouver where Vancity bank helps to operate and fund the program. I met Nicholas while canvassing and he has been so supportive of me that I am proud of his work and our friendship. Nicholas is a law student who is compassionate, intelligent and just the person to establish such a program. We all need to support his effort to keep people in their homes so to avoid tents altogether! Thank you Nicholas.

Second is an update on Coburg Road bike Greenway path update. It seems this issue is less about new networks for alternate modes of transportation and more about the city’s poor governance and lack of understanding of potential risks.
