Halifax South News Oct. 11, 2024

Hello friends and neighbours,
Wishing you a Thanksgiving filled with good food, great friends, and blessings for the future. I am grateful for my family and all those supporting me. Don’t forget to vote! – William Breckenridge
No major City Hall meetings scheduled as the new Council will be sworn in on Nov. 5th.

Voting is officially open in the 2024 Municipal and Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP) Election. Eligible residents can now vote online or by telephone by following the instructions included in their voter information letter. Some letters are still in the process of being delivered by Canada Post. Residents who do not receive their voter information letter can contact the voter helpline at 902-490-VOTE (8683) or toll-free at 1-844-301-8683.

Voters in the Halifax Regional Municipality have a variety of ways to cast their vote:

  • In advance, online/by telephone
Between Oct. 8-16, voters on the list of electors can use their unique PIN (included in their voter information letter) to cast their vote. Voting online is convenient, secure and accessible.

  • In advance, in-person
On Oct. 12 and Oct. 15, residents can visit any advance polling location to cast their vote using a digital kiosk. It’s important to note that paper ballots are only available during election day voting.

  • On election day, in-person
On Oct. 19, residents can visit their election day polling location to cast their vote using a paper ballot. Identification is not required to vote; eligible residents not on the list of electors can swear an oath to the Deputy Returning Officer to cast their vote.

You can see what percentage of the population has voted to date: While advance online/telephone voting is open, the municipality will be providing daily (M-F) voter turnout updates
