Allnovascotia is reporting today that Killam Apartment REIT is preparing for a Hollis Street heritage development at 1313, 1325 and 1335 Hollis Street. 1325 Hollis was built around 1841 and named the Alison-Young House after Premier Young, a family namesake to Young Ave. 1335 Hollis Street was built in ca.1835 and named the Rupert George House: “The house was constructed for Sir Rupert George, a former Provincial Secretary. John P. Mott purchased the property in 1863 and resided here until 1866. Mott was a prominent businessman who manufactured the first chocolates in Canada.”<\/div>\n

1313 Hollis was built around 1953 and will be demolished in the new development. 1313 Hollis was purchased by Killam for $3 million in 2021, 1325 Hollis for $3.7 million in 2020 and 1335 Hollis for $1.7 million in 2014. All these buildings are within the Old South Suburb Heritage Conservation District. Killam is currently working on the eventide project on Carlton Street abutting Camp Hill Cemetery: https:\/\/killamreit.com\/apartments\/halifax-ns\/eventide<\/a><\/div>\n
