Social Equity

HRM must continue to enhance safe spaces and provide support for social equity among minorities. Efforts should be made to offer opportunities to diverse communities, allowing them to share their culture and stories. It is crucial to improve economic and educational prospects for marginalized groups in HRM. Collaboration with the province is essential to enhance mental health services, especially in the post-COVID era, considering health falls under provincial jurisdiction.

HRM should prioritize improving the urban experience for people with disabilities by enhancing sidewalk navigation and ensuring safety in construction zones. Better signage can also aid individuals with learning disabilities in navigating the urban environment effectively.

I suggest implementing a community bond program to address social inequity and promote affordable living, inspired by initiatives in Kensington Market, Toronto, such as a community land trust.
