Transit and Accessibility

Transit & Accessibility

Transit is a key factor in the future success of HRM. I believe work needs to continue on delivering rapid transit, keeping fares affordable and ensuring that public transit remains accessible to all citizens.

Halifax has a unique advantage where the downtown is on the harbour front and not just any harbour but the second deepest natural harbour in the world. Thus, as the city expands ferry service will be a key method in improving public transportation. The link between ferries and buses needs to be strengthened.

Complete Streets and Active Transportation

Halifax faces challenges in implementing complete streets and promoting active transportation due to its historic street grid. The city must diversify its modes of transportation

Transit Safety

Ensure safety in transit and improve the pedestrian experience.

Hub System

Create central hubs between ferries and buses to connect and that peripheral zones can provide reliable transit service.
